You get 6 full assignable faders, 8 knobs, transport controls (that only work in SOME programs) not to mention a great BRIGHT LCD screen that shows you everything that's going on. I'd definitely reccommend the MPD24 over any other drum pad controller.

I guess I just have some practicing to do. I've been playing with the FPC in FL Studio 7 and I can't make a decent little hiphop beat because even though I can keep a rhythm, I guess my velocity is way off because one hit will be full volume and the next will be maybe 60%. Personally, I like the feel of the pads on the PK a lot better.

If you really want to, you could make another sampler channel on a different note for a double time hihat or something. The note repeat function on Akai MPCs allows you to trigger a sampler at an interval you chose just by holding down a pad you hold down a pad, a hihat plays eighth notes or whatever.
